So you’ve booked your suppliers but down the track you are not sure your decision was the right one.
What do you do now ?
Well if the decision includes myself at Your Celebrant then a phone call to discuss any issues would be the starting point. If for whatever reason you have a change of heart regarding any wedding supplier then you owe it to your supplier and importantly to yourself and your faince to discuss your concerns with the supplier to resolve any issues well ahead of time.
There is always some concern regarding deposits when it comes to changing suppliers, my personal opinion is that, if for whatever reason there needs to be a change then, if sufficient time is given and not a lot of work on the ceremony has already taken place then I am happy to forgo the balance and in many circumstances return a percentage, if not all, of any deposit (at my discretion).
Other suppliers will have various arrangements in place and you will need to talk candidly with them and discuss how best to resolve your concerns. This is why I suggest personally meeting up with ALL your candidates in ALL the categories you require well ahead of the big day.
It is also important to keep in touch and respond to your suppliers requests for information and paperwork in a timely manner. They are busy people and will want to deal with issues as they arise.
Staying in touch will also help establish a rapport with your supplier which, in the long run will help immeasurably. Your suppliers are professional people (if you have chosen well) and wish only the best for you on your special day. Keep channels of communication open and honest.
On a final note regarding suppliers, try not to second guess yourself too much. There was a valid reason why you chose your supplier in the first place, so make sure that if you decide to move on from a particular service provider it is for the right reasons and not because of some issue being blown out of proportion due to planning tensions getting the better of you. If you do find that issues cannot be resolved then thank your supplier for the work they have done and the advice given so far and move on. This does not mean they are a bad supplier or you a difficult client, it’s simply that some people aren’t meant to work together.
I am happy to discuss any of the above and give advice in any area that may assist you in planning your wedding day and the lead up to it. How best to broach difficult subjects or concerns with wedding suppliers and best practices that should be maintained by all reputable wedding professionals. This, as always, is freely given whether you are one of my couples or not.
